President Donald J. Trump’s State of the Union Address

On January 30, 2018 the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump gave the annual State of the Union Address.

In his speech President Trump reflected on a number of important issues for the United States citizens’ including security and threat from terrorism, healthcare system and access to innovative drugs, migrations, international trade and global developments. President Trump called for unity as a prerequisite to achieve necessary changes for the benefit of citizens: “Tonight, I call upon all of us to set aside our differences, to seek out common ground, and to summon the unity we need to deliver for the people we were elected to serve.”

President Trump stressed out that since the Presidential elections 2,4 million new jobs were created, out of which 200,000 in manufacturing. After a long period of wage stagnation, wages are rising. Unemployment amongst two major minority groups is at its lowest.

Tax cuts which were enacted aimed to provide relief for the middle class and small businesses. First $ 24,000 earned by a married couple is now tax-free. An average U.S. family of four making $ 75,000 will have their tax bill reduced by $2,000.

“We slashed the business tax rate from 35 percent all the way down to 21 percent, so American companies can compete and win against anyone else anywhere in the world. These changes alone are estimated to increase average family income by more than $4,000. A lot of money. Small businesses have also received a massive tax cut and can now deduct 20 percent of their business income.” said President Trump.

Other than tax cuts and a call to rebuild industries in the U.S., the President stressed the need to rebuild the infrastructure. President Trump called for bipartisan unity in hopes to pave a way for a safe, fast, reliable and modern infrastructure, both for the people and businesses, including roads, bridges, highways, railways and waterways.
