In Croatia stock options, as a type of executive long term incentives, are taxed much higher compared to similar neighboring countries. This is one of the major obstacles to choosing Croatia for regional headquarters of international corporations. Adjusting taxation policies would make Croatia more attractive for the investors, potentially resulting in a number of positive effects including increase of the foreign direct investments and increase of employment.
