Meeting in the U.S. Senate

During their official visit to the U.S., AmCham representatives held a series of meetings on the topic of the Double Taxation Treaty between the U.S. and Croatia.

AmCham representatives held a meeting with Ms. Molly Carpenter, Legislative Director in the office of US Senator Mike Crapo, Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.

The main topic of discussion was the Double Taxation Treaty between the U.S. and Croatia, which, after being signed in December 2022, awaits ratification by the parliaments of both countries. Successful ratification of the Treaty will encourage new and intensify existing economic cooperation between the two markets.

In order to reactivate the process, it is necessary to include this topic on the agenda of the Senate Finance Committee. A positive signal is that the discussion on the Double Taxation Treaty could be on the Committee's agenda again in the autumn of 2025.

In Washington, AmCham Croatia's Executive Director Andrea Doko Jelušić and Policy Officer Tomislav Vidović held additional meetings on the topic of double taxation between Croatia and the United States with: Michael Rousek from the U.S. Department of State, Croatian Ambassador to the United States H.E. Pjer Šimunović and his associates, and representatives of the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.

AmCham continues to actively advocate for this important agreement and will continue dialogue with relevant U.S. and Croatian institutions to ensure a positive outcome.
