"Digitalna Hrvatska" is a joint initiative of Visa, its clients/acquirers, and other stakeholders. The main goal of the initiative is to accelerate development of digital payments acceptance network and drive digitisation in Croatia.
Building on its long-standing commitment to champion small businesses when it comes to digital payments acceptance, Visa announced an initiative to support small businesses in Croatia in the recovery process. In this regard Visa has committed to support 8 million small and micro businesses operating in Europe.
Since the start of the pandemic, Visa has launched a variety of community-based programs to help more small businesses accept digital payments and gain greater access to the digital economy. As part of this ongoing commitment, Visa also announced it has helped to digitally-enable 24.8 million SMBs worldwide, or 50% of the multi-year goal it set in 2020 to digitize 50 million SMBs.
Thanks to "Digitalna Hrvatska" initiative the small and micro-sized businesses who want to experience the benefits of digital payments will receive a subsidised payment terminal free of charge for 6 months. Visa is also working with partners to provide card acceptance to e-commerce merchants within this initiative.
Croatian merchants that have not been accepting card payments during the last 12 months can join the programme. Businesses who are willing to participate in the initiative should visit https://www.visa.com.hr/digitalnahrvatska.html and approach the acquirer of their choice.
SMBs account for more than 90% of global businesses and 50% to 60% of global employment. Visa recognized early in the pandemic that small businesses were both disproportionately important and at risk and directed many of our resources toward them.
“We understand the vital role small businesses play in our society which is why we are determined to provide this much needed support as quickly as possible. Visa is committed to supporting our Croatian clients (acquirers) to enable merchants and consumers to use innovative, reliable, and secure payments. That is why acquirers together with Visa will offer terminals free of charge for 6 months to all Croatian SMEs who have not accepted digital payments before”, said Renata Vujasinovic, Country Manager, Croatia at Visa.
