Waiving VAT on COVID-19 donations

According to the special reguation, taxpayers entered in the VAT register are exempt from VAT for supplies of goods and services, carried out without compensation or counterintuitive action, necessary to fight the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

AmCham has, amongs others, advocated waiving WAT on donations to hospitals and science/education institutions as one of its recommendations for economic relief during the COVID-19 outbreak. Therefore, we are extremelly glad that by the decision of the Croatian Government, VAT on donations has been waived.

According to the special reguation, taxpayers entered in the register of VAT taxpayers are exempt from VAT for supplies of goods and services, carried out without compensation or counterintuitive action, necessary to fight the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
