AmCham Talents: Change Management
The eighth and final lecture of this year’s AmCham Talents program was delivered by Dino Komar, Partner at McKinsey & Company and leader of the Growth, Marketing & Sales practice for Central Europe.
With more than twenty years of international experience in consulting and industry, Dino Komar has built his career working with leading companies across the consumer, telecommunications, technology, and media sectors throughout Europe. In his lecture on change management, he offered participants both a strategic perspective and practical insights that help organizations successfully execute transformations and achieve accelerated growth.
Throughout the presentation, he emphasized that organizations change only when people change, explaining the emotional stages employees experience during transformation. He highlighted the reasons why as many as 70% of transformation initiatives fail, primarily due to organizational barriers, employee resistance, and misaligned leadership. Participants were also introduced to the key roles within a change effort, from leaders to “change champions,” as well as effective approaches to engaging different groups of stakeholders.
The lecture also covered the importance of building a compelling change story, maintaining consistent communication, and role-modelling positive behaviors as essential pillars of a successful transformation. Dino emphasized that lasting change requires a shift in mindsets and underlying beliefs, not just new processes.
The session was exceptionally valuable and inspiring, providing participants with clear frameworks and concrete guidance for leading change within their own organizations.
With the completion of the eighth lecture, the AmCham Talents 2025 participants are entering the final phase of the program. After a series of sessions with business leaders, speed networking, and both team and individual project work, they are now preparing for the Final Event on December 18, where the three finalists will present their projects and the Talent of the Year 2025 will be announced.
