AmCham Talents - Prerequisites for Successful Strategy
As part of the AmCham Talents 2026 program, the fifth lecture of this year’s cycle was held with Daniel Lenardić, Partner and Management Board Member at KPMG, who introduced participants to the topic of successful strategy and the conditions required for an organization’s strategic direction to truly translate into measurable results and long-term business value.
The lecture opened a topic that is particularly relevant for young professionals and future leaders: what actually distinguishes a strategy that remains at the level of ambition from one that is successfully implemented in practice. Combining an analytical perspective with experience gained through work on complex transformation projects, Daniel Lenardić spoke about the importance of clearly defining the value an organization aims to create, as well as about how strategic priorities can be connected to operational reality, accountability, and concrete outcomes.
One of the key messages of the lecture was that strategy cannot be separated from the way an organization functions. Participants thus gained insight into how important it is, for successful strategy execution, to align the business model, operating model, technology, governance, and execution — especially at a time when organizations are simultaneously managing multiple transformations and facing growing complexity in the business environment.
A particularly engaging part of the lecture focused on the question of value creation — not simply in terms of growth, but in terms of growth that genuinely creates additional value. Speaking about how organizations measure and understand value, Daniel Lenardić also touched on the importance of the context in which an organization operates: its stage of development, market-specific characteristics, access to capital, and its ability to translate long-term goals into relevant performance indicators.
The lecture offered participants of the AmCham Talents program a valuable perspective on strategy not as a static document, but as a discipline that requires clarity, consistency, the ability to prioritize, and strong execution. For young professionals developing toward future leadership roles, it was another important encounter with a topic that clearly showed that successful strategy is not only a matter of vision, but also of the ability to turn that vision into concrete business impact.
