Eyes Wide Open

At the first seminar in 2026, attorneys Dora Horvat and Boris Dvoršćak will present key legal issues related to cases of investigations and inspections in corporations. The seminar is for AmCham members only and is free of charge.

Seminar Content:

Increasingly frequent non-compliance investigations carried out in corporations either on the incentive of internal whistleblowers or competent authorities open numerous questions in relation to permissible methods and employee privacy. Precisely due to this reason, timely assessment and strategy makes the difference between swift resolution of detected non-compliance and lengthy court cases with an uncertain outcome.

Topics which will be covered:

  • How is an internal investigation prepared and conducted?
  • How to prepare for a (unannounced) inspection by competent authorities?
  • What can be subjected to the search?
  • How to identify activities which breach competition and how to manage related risks?
  • How to react to a complaint (internal and external) and secure evidence for potential employment termination?
  • Does every discovery need to be reported to competent authorities?
  • Strategy for termination of employment and legal proceedings?
  • How to recover assets?
  • Does Croatian law recognize leniency?

This seminar is designed for:

  • Executive board members responsible for internal compliance
  • Heads of internal compliance teams
  • Data protection officers
  • Heads of legal and human resources departments
