AmCham Establishes the Judicial Committee
Following a strong expression of interest by members, the AmCham Board approved the establishment of the AmCham Judicial Committee. The Committee will provide a focused platform for identifying obstacles and proposing solutions related to the proper and efficient functioning of the Croatian judicial system. Such issues have so far been tackled in a piecemeal fashion in separate policy committees, while combining them into a single committee will enable a more focused forum for discussion and policy advocacy work related to the judicial system.
The first meeting of the Judicial Committee took place on 8 March, at which members agreed to focus on the following policy topics: creation of a fast-track procedure for small claims, increased use of mediation as an alternative dispute resolution method, and educational and administrative changes leading to some judges specializing in specific areas relevant to business, e.g. intellectual property rights, public procurement, etc.
