European Volleyball Championship Qualifiers, that were Set to Play in Zadar

Men's European Volleyball qualification tournament, which was set to play in Zadar from 8th to 10th of January in Zadar, was postponed for May. National teams of Croatia, Sweden and the Netherlands were supposed to play in Višnjik sports center. Tournament is postponed because Netherlands' team, due to COVID measures, can't train and prepare for the competition in January.
''We are sorry that qualifiers are cancelled for January because we have secretly been hoping to qualify in Zadar. It's unrealistic in this moment to organize qualifiers because Netherlands' team is forbidden from training and they wouldn't be able to prepare for the tournament.'' – commented Frane Žanić, Croatian Volleyball Association Federation Secretary.
European championship qualifiers are played in six groups, with winners of the group going through, as well as four best second placed teams. Championship will be played in September next year in Poland, Czech Republic, Finland and Estonia.
''European Volleyball Federation (CEV) decided to reschedule qualifiers for May, to be concluded until the 16th of May. It will be a great challenge to play this tournament because most national leagues end on 1st of May. I hope we will all stay healthy and in May qualify to the European championship!'' – Frane concluded.
In addition to the qualifiers, Zadar will also host MEVZA U18 (F) and U19 (M) from 28th to 30th of December, as well as MEVZA U16 (F) and U17 (M) from 8th to 10th of January. European Women's Golden league and Men's Silver league will be played in May and June, FIVB Challenger Cup in June and European women volleyball championship in August.
