HPB: On the back of a record business year, the Bank successfully completes the process of Sberbank p.l.c resolution and Nova hrvatska banka launches operations
After a record year in which it achieved the best net profit in history in the amount of HRK 202 million, asset growth to HRK 27.9 billion and a capital adequacy ratio of 25.7%, Hrvatska poštanska banka has successfully realized another challenging project - resolution of Sberbank p.l.c., future Nova hrvatska banka p.l.c.
The Council of the Croatian National Bank adopted a decision on the completion of the resolution procedure of Sberbank p.l.c. – in resolution, which will formally commence operations as Nova hrvatska banka p.l.c., member of HPB Group. This acquisition, together with the completed resolution process and the merger of Nova hrvatska banka with HPB will further strengthen HPB’s market position in Croatia. The resolution process itself was promptly completed in a short timeframe and the Bank is stabilized to operate successfully.

As a new member of HPB Group, Nova hrvatska banka brings us a significant customer base, a complementary portfolio and an additional boost to grow and expand our operations. Following record results last year, we believe that synergy effects will bring new benefits to our customers, shareholders and employees," said Marko Badurina, President of the Management Board of HPB.
Tadija Vrdoljak was appointed as the President of the Management Board of Nova hrvatska banka and Boris Bekavac and Ognjen Brakus were appointed as Members of the Board.
Tadija Vrdoljak holds a PhD in Economics, he completed his education at the Faculty of Economics in Osijek and Zagreb, and at international business schools INSEAD and Bled. He has held managerial positions in banking and business for 25 years, with over a decade of service on the Management Boards of Slavonska banka, Hypo-Alpe-Adria banka and Croatia banka.
Boris Bekavac joins the Bank from the post of Executive Director for Large Companies and Public Sector at HPB. His career spans twenty years during which he worked at Zagrebačka banka, UniCredit Bank d.o.o. Mostar as Chief Operating Officer, Senior Group Vice President and as an independent financial consultant. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Finance and Banking from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Zagreb.
