Jana's initiative for the young patients of The Gornja Bistra Special Hospital

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of every packaging of the Jana natural still mineral water will be donated to the Gornja Bistra Special Hospital. The campaign will be conducted from 15 April to 30 May 2021 in all Konzum stores in Croatia.

The Gornja Bistra hospital was one of the thousands of buildings damaged by the devastating earthquake at the end of last year. As a consequence, 45 young patients, together with hospital personnel, were moved to the Naftalan Special Hospital in Ivanić-Grad, while patients in a more difficult state, who require breathing support and depend on ventilators, were moved to the ground floor of the hospital, which was declared safest by structural engineers. At the end of February 2021, after the building in Gornja Bistra was secured by scaffolding, some forty children returned to the hospital, which they consider their home.

Although there are currently insufficient funds for building a completely new hospital for the accommodation of the young patients who are at greatest risk, this charity campaign is an opportunity for the citizens to ensure a high-quality hospital accommodation for the children, by making their own contribution, i.e. by buying Jana, towards the procurement of new hospital beds, which are of utmost importance, due to the adequate level of safety and functionality they provide.

At the launching of the campaign, Director of the Gornja Bistra Special Hospital for Chronic Childhood Illnesses Renato Mittermayer, MD, Specialist of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Care said: ‘’To the best of our own ability and through daily efforts, complex healthcare procedures and care, we provide our young patients with the best quality of life in terms of their capabilities. However, our work, willingness and efforts do require material support, which has not always matched our desires and aims. In order to provide the best healthcare to our seriously ill young patients, we require medical equipment, whose high prices entail significant funding. We therefore want to thank Jana for the initiative to conduct a charity campaign for the donation of hospital beds, which will surely be helpful in the treatment of our dear children. As we bear witness to the high level of awareness of the Croatian public of the need to help the must vulnerable social groups, we are convinced that this initiative will elicit a significant response.''

The Jana brand has always strived to help those in greatest need. Considering that the past year has been extremely difficult for everyone, especially for the most vulnerable groups, Jana decided to help the Gornja Bistra hospital and invites citizens to contribute a small token of care, to make a difference by building a better future for someone.
