Planting the Future Together: Project O2 and the Young Heroes of Vukovar

On Saturday, April 12th, children from the “Vukovarski leptirići” Association and the “Fuji” Judo Club for persons with disabilities joined forces to plant young trees in the Adica forest park and Potkova area. The event was part of the project The Power of Sport and Forest – for a More Inclusive Society through Sport and Nature, organized in collaboration with Futsal Dinamo, reKreativan Kvart, Project O2, and the GNK Dinamo Foundation “Nema predaje”.

The day began with a hands-on lesson on the importance of forest ecosystems and a demonstration of Project O2’s innovative method of reforestation using drones and SeedBombs. This cutting-edge approach enables fast and efficient reforestation of hard-to-reach or degraded areas without heavy machinery or large field teams — a scalable solution for the climate crisis.

This action directly contributes to the goals of the European Green Deal, which aims to plant at least 3 billion new trees across the EU by 2030. Innovations like Project O2’s are crucial to meeting these goals, helping restore ecosystems and build resilience to climate change.

By planting trees, these young participants became part of the solution learning how their hands, hearts, and collaboration can help heal the planet. More than just planting a forest, they planted values of inclusion, equality, and hope.

Project O2 continues to bridge science, technology, and community in the fight for healthier ecosystems showing that a greener future truly starts with us.
