The Covid-19 Crisis is a Child Rights Crisis Too

Although most children seem to be less likely to get sick from the virus, UNICEF is acting now so they do not become the hidden victims. Thanks to the donors’ support, UNICEF has already provided more than 4 tons of protective equipment, aid packages for vulnerable families and psychosocial support to foster families, as well as supported online education and a campaign on disinformation and online security.  But help is still needed!

With the support of its donors and partners, UNICEF is leading the charge to Respond, to Recover and to Reimagine a world fit for every child. In Croatia, this includes:

  • Virtual Home Visits: Tele-intervention for children with developmental delays and disabilities, aiming at improved access to early intervention services for children with developmental delays and disabilities
  • Support to child protection professionals to ensure adequate protection of children and families at risk. Timely and effective support to families at risks are crucial to prevent child violence and abuse, neglect and child-family separation.
  • Skills4life: programmes for adolescents & young people to create solutions to the problems they face, develop socio-emotional skills, employability skills, as well as participation opportunities and mechanisms.

“As we begin to reimagine what a post-COVID world would look like, we are creating strong alliances to respond to the crisis, recover from its aftermath, and protect children from its knock-on effects. We invite you to join us in creating a world fit for every child.”- UNICEF Office for Croatia Representative Regina M. Castillo.
