Uprise Wins “Hrvoje Požar” Award for Energy Innovation with STORM Platform

Named after Hrvoje Požar, one of the founders of modern Croatian energy science, the Foundation’s awards honor individuals and organizations for their contributions to research, education and innovation in the energy sector.

For Uprise, a Croatian think tank and technology company, the award recognizes its approach to connecting analysis of energy markets, regulation and technology with practical product development. STORM (Storage Optimization and Resource Management) translates this expertise into software for energy storage management and electricity trading.

STORM: smarter energy storage and trading

STORM brings together three capabilities: real-time management and optimization of battery energy storage systems (BESS), automated algorithmic trading on day-ahead and intraday electricity markets, and BESS feasibility and sizing studies to support investment decisions.

As renewable generation grows, battery storage plays an increasingly important role in balancing electricity supply and demand. STORM determines when a battery should charge, discharge or remain idle, taking into account market opportunities, grid conditions and the long-term health of the asset.

The platform is designed to help storage owners increase revenues, improve renewable energy utilization and support a more flexible, resilient power system. Its feasibility and sizing studies also help investors and operators assess potential projects before installation.

Developed entirely by Uprise’s engineering team in Croatia, STORM is already in commercial operation, putting the company’s research and engineering expertise into practice.
