In 2008 the EU adopted a climate and energy package setting 2020 targets: a 20% cut in greenhouse gas emissions, 20% share of renewables, and 20% improvement in energy efficiency. Many European countries introduced tax breaks and subsidies for hybrid and electric vehicles, while public transport is recognized as the most energy-efficient alternative. Croatia, still aligning with EU policies, has few such incentives. Introducing eco-friendly fiscal and non-fiscal measures would support environmental protection, sustainable development, and benefit citizens and businesses. AmCham Croatia fully supports initiatives and legislation that promote green technologies.
