AmCham's II. Set of Recommendations for Economic Relief
The American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia (AmCham) welcomes the measures introduced by the Government of Croatia to preserve liquidity and jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic and proposes additional solutions to further support the economy. Key recommendations include: introducing the “waiting for work” scheme, under which employees receive state-paid allowances while retaining their employment status; increasing wage subsidies to retain highly skilled workers; extending tax and social contribution write-offs to all affected businesses; reducing parafiscal charges and electricity costs; and introducing targeted measures for the tourism sector—such as extending job-retention support for 12 months, waiving parafiscal levies, and lowering utility costs. AmCham also stresses the need to prolong the duration of economic support measures and to amend labor legislation to allow greater flexibility in extraordinary circumstances.
