AmCham - Survey of the Business Environment in Croatia - 2020
AmCham’s 2020 survey reveals business trends, workforce challenges, and investment outlooks in Croatia, with recommendations for improving the climate.
AmCham Croatia conducted a business climate survey among executives of domestic and international companies. The results show that 67% of respondents reported better business performance in 2019 compared to the previous year, while 55% increased their number of employees. Although 49% rated the business environment as good, key challenges remain—such as labor taxation, shortage of qualified workforce, and high overall tax burden. Compared to other CEE countries, Croatia lags behind due to its small market, high taxes, and slow administration, while its strengths lie in EU membership, tourism potential, and geostrategic location. Despite the challenges, 80% of companies plan to expand operations in Croatia over the next three years, and 71% plan to hire new employees.
