Novelties in the Court Register
The American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia organized a Power Breakfast on the topic of novelties in the court register, intended for legal experts and attorneys who use the register for business purposes.
In July 2024, AmCham prepared the position paper “Creating a Single National Court Register”, proposing the consolidation of nine separate court registers into a single national body, with the aim of ensuring standardization, equal treatment, predictability, and greater efficiency of the court register, regardless of the commercial court involved.
Andrea Doko Jelušić, Executive Director of AmCham, emphasized that the predictability and efficiency of the judicial system, as well as the digitalization of public administration, are among the key issues considered by potential investors when deciding whether to invest in Croatia or another market.
The novelties were presented by Ms. Ksenija Flack-Makitan, Judge of the Commercial Court in Varaždin, who was joined in the presentation by Mr. Vjenceslav Arambašić, Notary Public, and Ms. Irena Lukanović, Project Manager at IN2.
Participants were introduced to the most important amendments introduced by the Regulation on the Method of Registration in the Court Register, in force since April 1, 2025, which enables digital user interaction. Particular emphasis was placed on the new Court Register website, presented in June, which significantly facilitates the submission of applications for registration and amendments, introducing e-services not offered by the previous version.
The novelties include a new website also available in English, as well as the possibility of electronic submission of applications and publications through e-services connected with eNotar. Since April 1, 2025, four types of applications can be submitted electronically with reduced fees and without the need to physically go to court. A pilot project has already been launched at the Commercial Courts in Varaždin and Osijek, and it will gradually expand to the entire country.
AmCham welcomes the strong cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation, as well as the changes and novelties to the Court Register website introduced by the Ministry.
