Croatian Post has resumed shipping parcels to the United States

Under an Executive Order issued by the President of the United States, the duty-free de minimis treatment of goods shipped through postal services (for items valued at less than USD 800) has been suspended. As a result, applicable duties and taxes must be paid before goods arrive in the United States. To address this requirement, Croatian Post has partnered with ZONOS to provide a temporary solution that enables customers to pay customs duties and taxes through the ZONOS platform before their items are accepted for shipment to the USA.
The new procedure applies to all types of goods shipped to the US, including goods designated as “gift”. The newly introduced procedure does not apply to items containing documents or written communication, which are still received and dispatched to the US in the usual way.
In accordance with the new procedure, the sender needs to download the ZONOS app and create a free account in-app, enter the necessary information about the content of the item they want to send to the US and pay the amount specified in the app. The item then needs to be handed over to Croatian Post together with the ZONOS declaration, i.e. a certificate confirming that customs and tax duties have been paid.
Detailed instructions on how to register goods and pay duties through the ZONOS application can be found on the Croatian Post website
As a reminder, the sender bears sole responsibility for the contents of the shipment, the accurate completion of the CN23 customs declaration, and the correct description and declaration of the goods being shipped. Croatian Post is not responsible for declaring goods or completing CN23 customs declarations on behalf of senders, nor can it influence any decisions made by the customs authorities of the destination country, including those of the United States.
