AmCham Holds Meeting with U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Evyenia Sidereas

During the meeting, AmCham representatives presented the Chamber’s key activities and policy priorities, while Deputy Chief of Mission Sidereas shared insights into her professional background and priorities during her assignment in Croatia.

In an open and constructive discussion, participants exchanged views on a range of topics important to the Croatian and U.S. business communities. Discussions included the ratification of the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement between Croatia and the United States, as well as the importance of a predictable and competitive business environment that encourages investment through a stable tax framework and the reduction of unnecessary administrative burdens. Particular emphasis was placed on the judiciary and its role in ensuring business and legislative predictability, as well as the importance of an efficient system for resolving commercial disputes.

Participants also discussed digitalization and the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence, as well as the importance of energy and sustainability in ensuring security of supply and the resilience of the energy system. Public procurement was another topic of discussion, with participants reviewing recent legislative changes that introduce certain improvements for bidders.

The meeting took place in an informative and constructive atmosphere, and Deputy Chief of Mission Sidereas welcomed AmCham’s continued efforts to improve Croatia’s business and investment environment, as well as the Chamber’s constructive dialogue with policymakers. Both sides expressed their commitment to continuing cooperation on issues of mutual interest with the aim of further strengthening economic relations between Croatia and the United States.
