Meeting with the Ministry of Economy on the Availability of Digital Payments

The meeting included a presentation of best practices from Italy, Estonia, Greece, and Poland, as well as AmCham’s recommendations for the further development of digital payments. The recommendations include lowering the cash payment limit, transforming the e-Građani platform into an integrated hub for digital public services, enabling at least one digital payment method in designated sectors, introducing interoperable and contactless solutions in public transport and public services, and delivering part of social benefits through secure digital solutions.

Wider availability of digital payments can contribute to simpler and faster transactions, greater fiscal transparency, a reduction in the shadow economy and business costs, and a broader choice of payment methods for citizens. Digital solutions can also improve access to public services and enhance the financial inclusion of vulnerable groups.
