Technical knowledge is not enough

When hiring managers, employers have increasingly opted for competency and soft skills assessments over the past two years. Traditional psychological testing, which assesses personality and cognitive abilities, is rarely used. Instead, assessments focus on managerial competencies, behavioural patterns, and preferences in approaching the work environment.

"Around a hundred managers pass through our assessment centers yearly, competing for positions in various industries. Now, both employers and teams can use the Belbin methodology for evaluation," highlighted Ana Petelinšek, Head of the Assessment Department at SELECTIO Group, which operates as a one-stop shop for all HR services.

Multiple Assessment Methods

Organizations and managers worldwide use the Belbin methodology to identify leadership competencies. Candidates discover their key strengths and weaknesses and learn in what environment they can best fulfil their potential. The DNLA questionnaire (Discovering Natural Latent Abilities) is another useful method within the assessment center. It provides comparison with other candidates in the market, serving as a benchmark against other managers.
