Press Release - AmCham presented Recommendations for attracting FDI in the Republic of Croatia

The American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia has presented the Recommendation for attracting investments in the Republic of Croatia in front of State Secretary Nataša Mikuš Žigman and her associates from the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.

“It is of great importance for Croatia to attract foreign investments aimed directly at export markets, since such investments lead to inclusion in the global value chains, job creation, transfer of technologies, knowledge and work models, which in addition results in the growth of productivity and competitiveness of the economy,” stated Andrea Doko Jelušić, Executive Director of AmCham at the meeting.

AmCham believes that, as a precondition for attracting such investments, organization and work process with the investors, Investment Promotion Act, the preparation and the availability of information for potential investors and promotional activities should be improved upon. The positive economic results of comparable countries of the New Europe clearly show that foreign investments aimed directly at export markets are indispensable for achieving accelerated and stable economic growth and approaching the development average of the European Union.

“AmCham’s proposals and recommended additional activities for attracting direct foreign investments can be implemented quickly and easily, they are aligned with the National Development Strategy and they would directly contribute to the achievement of goals stated in that document. In doing so, AmCham reaffirms its continued commitment to improving the business environment and increasing investment in Croatia,” Ms Doko Jelušić concluded.

The subjects discussed at the meeting also include the digitalization of the economy and the public administration as an incentive for the recovery, competitiveness and growth of the Croatian economy, as well as the projects of electromobility and their financing within the Multiannual Financial Framework of the European Union.
