The coronavirus pandemic has accelerated digital transformation in Croatia

The aim of the research is to analyse digital readiness of companies from different economic sectors and, based on the gathered results, make recommendations for improving the digital capacity of Croatian companies and the economy as a whole.

In this year's survey, data was collected from 273 Croatian companies, of which 56 large and 217 medium-sized, which are grouped into five major categories by business type and divided into six geographical regions.

The state of digitalization of the Croatian economy in 2021 was rated with an average score of 2,59, which is a mild improvement compared to 2020, when the average score was 2,52. Despite the positive trend, the overall score is still not satisfactory; the growth rate is slow, and it is clear that there is significant room for improvement in the coming years. On the other hand, respondents evaluated the offer of e-services for citizens and legal entities with an average score of 2,78, which is also a slight increase compared to the year before, when the average score was 2,73.

As key results achieved by the implementation of digital transformation, the respondents pointed out the digitalization of business processes, increased efficiency / lower costs achieved through the optimization of business processes and implementation of new technologies and market trends. Under the influence of the COVID crisis, half of the surveyed companies increased the use of digital solutions that they had already been applying in everyday business, while a third of them also introduced new digital tools to help them overcome the new and unexpected circumstances.
