AmCham Meets with the Ministry of Finance to Discuss the Implementation of the Consumer Credit Act
Representatives of AmCham met with officials from the Ministry of Finance to discuss the proposed new Consumer Credit Act and its impact on businesses that offer consumers interest-free installment payments for products and services.
The Ministry of Finance was represented by State Secretary Matej Bule, Ana Zorić, Acting Director General of the Directorate for Economy and Financial System, and Amalija Jurin Nonković, Head of the Banking, Accounting and Audit Sector.
AmCham representatives presented the business community’s views on the implementation of the Consumer Credit Directive (CCD2), particularly regarding interest-free installment sales of mobile devices offered by telecommunications operators. Discussions focused on the need for a proportionate approach to creditworthiness assessments, the administrative requirements envisaged by the proposed legislation, and the importance of providing an adequate transition period for businesses to adapt their processes and IT systems.
During the meeting, AmCham also presented a comparative analysis of solutions adopted in other European Union Member States. It was agreed that AmCham would provide the Ministry of Finance with additional examples of best practices from other Member States to support the ongoing dialogue and help identify solutions that both protect consumers and avoid disproportionate administrative burdens on businesses.
AmCham was represented by Andrea Doko Jelušić, Executive Director, and Dražen Malbašić, Policy Director, together with representatives of the telecommunications industry: Iva Cibulić (Hrvatski Telekom), Petra Nakić (Telemach Croatia), Senka Erslan (A1 Croatia), and Martina Dragičević (A1 Croatia).
