Meeting with the Chair of the Judiciary Committee of the Croatian Parliament

Representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia held a meeting with Members of Parliament from the Judiciary Committee of the Croatian Parliament. The meeting was attended by Nikola Grmoja, Chair of the Committee, Members of Parliament Danijela Blažanović and Urša Raukar-Gamulin, and Višnja Fištrek, Senior Advisor to the Judiciary Committee. The main topics discussed included improving the legislative framework for civil procedure and the digitalization of the company share registration system.

During the meeting, AmCham presented key recommendations from two of its position papers – on the digitalization of the company share registration system and on amendments to the Civil Procedure Act. The importance of establishing a digital depository of company shares was highlighted as a step toward modernization and greater transparency, along with proposals for improving the existing regulatory framework. AmCham representatives emphasized that the Croatian legal system is technically ready to support a more robust digital transformation.

As part of the discussion on the Civil Procedure Act, particular emphasis was placed on the need for procedural concentration and more efficient case management, as well as the increased use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. The Act was recognized as a key instrument for promoting responsible business conduct and strengthening legal certainty – the foundation of a stable and predictable business environment.

The meeting was attended by Andrea Doko Jelušić, Executive Director of AmCham, Dražen Malbašić, Policy Director, Vanja Bačun, Public Affairs Officer, Marko Porobija, Chair of AmCham’s Judicial Committee, and Jadranka Orešković, Vice-Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Grmoja thanked the AmCham representatives for their recommendations and expressed readiness for continued cooperation with AmCham on judicial initiatives of interest to the business community.
